05. Communal (Two Axis) Variable Alphabet
Introduction
We will make a communal variable alphabet. There will not be a ton of rules for this, except that one of the axes we want to be "normal" or "conventional" and one of them we want to be "crazy" or "freaky" or vary wildly from the original form you draw.
Procedure
- You will each be assigned a number of letters randomly.
- You will upload those letters before next class.
- In class (04/14) we will combine those into a single alphabet and work out any tech issues.
The Axes
- Weight (wght), with a range of 100 - 900
- Freakiness (FRKY), with a range of 0 - 500
Note that weight should be a standard option and will not need to be capitalized, while "Freakiness" or any non-standard axis will need to be capitalized with its abbreviation.
What this means, for what you have to draw
You must therefore draw (at least):
| Potential Master or Source name | Description | wght axis value | FRKY axis value |
|---|---|---|---|
| Regular | Your "regular" or medium letter | wght: 100 | FRKY: 0 |
| Black | Your "black" or "bold" letter | wght: 900 | FRKY: 0 |
| Freakmaxxed | Your "freakimaxxing" letter | wght: 100 | FRKY: 500 |
| Freakmaxxed Black | Your "bold + freaky" letter | wght: 900 | FRKY: 500 |
This will give whichever program you are using an idea of what to interpolate for each axis, in all its values.
